Changes to Highly Qualified Requirements
There has been a change to the highly qualified requirements for 5th general education and special education teachers. Effective immediately, all 5th grade teachers may meet highly qualified teacher requirements as elementary generalists, whether 5th grade is self-contained or departmentalized. Also, it can be housed in either an elementary or middle school. Those teachers who have already achieved highly qualified status to teach grade five maintain that status. More

In Our Schools
First Annual Faculty Bowling Tournament
Despite still not having a contract, the Williamstown High School faculty, friends, and family united together to raise money for a good cause. Faculty members competed in the First Annual Faculty bowling tournament on Friday, March 5th. Teams of four skillfully bowled in an attempt to have the highest combined scores. In the end, Team Physics, Jerry Votta, Jeremy Fau, Lon Leobowitz, and Mark LaPalomento came out victorious. Congratulations to all participants! WHS Blood Drive
On Friday, February 5th, 2010, over 80 student volunteers in the Health Careers Club volunteered their time to organize a second Blood Drive at WHS in conjunction with the American Red Cross. The students worked two shifts, providing moral support and refreshments to their classmates and organizational support to the Red Cross workers. Despite having to end the drive early due to inclement weather, 200 units were collected from faculty and students. When combined with the results of the October 2009 drive, where 202 units were obtained, Williamstown High School collected a total of 402 units of blood for this school year. Since each unit of blood is divided and potentially given to three donors, this translates into 1206 lives in our area saved because of the generosity of our faculty and staff. Great job everyone!
