1 CEU is worth 16 hours and 3 CEU’s would equal just over 45 hours which is the seat hours for a graduate course. So 3 CEU’s are in essence equivalent to 1 graduate course and that was how it was developed to align with the Graduate Credit guideline. The extra hour for each CEU was to make up for the fact that most CEU’s do not require any additional work such as Papers, Tests, Grades and Assignments. It was BOE approved several years ago with MTEA representatives involved in developing the proposal to make sure that it was aligned for moving along the scale.
